Jon's letter to everyone! & some updates.

WE HAVE A LETTER FROM JONATHAN!

Good news for all!
We hope that Jonathan can keep in touch with us through this site (perhaps blog here), and we are currently working on it. Do be patient! Here're the letter contents!

A great big hello to all of you, I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits once again. I took a peek at the jonathanleong.net site earlier as a friend of mine excitedly told me its been changed and I was very, very pleasantly surprised by the huge "revamp" that it went through. It looks simply amazing! I love how organized it is and it's simply breathtaking. Thank you to all of you who have taken the trouble to put the new website in action. I am sure it took much painstaking efforts and much thought as well. I love it and it put a great big smile on my face!

I wore the "Jonatic" t-shirt for the first time today while I went for one of my regular runs and I must say it is really comfy and great for exercising. It did seem like abit of self advertisement as I ran for an hour with that shirt on my back but nobody took notice so it was more like a private joke, really.

Having given it some thought I feel that the way in which I can best communicate to you is neither through email, nor through friendster, but a "newsletter" of sorts on a regular basis that you can read off the website. It is near impossible to reply to emails individually and the inconveniences of friendster can be rather frustrating. This will be something like the old blog I used to have but more fun and I can talk about more I guess…Since we know each other a little bit better
now.

For those of you who are still in school and have completed your examinations, congratulations! It's a wonderful thing to be on vacation as you a lot more time on your hands to do what you are interested in. I urge you to make full use of the time at hand and pursue an interest before the holidays are over. Make sure the time is well spent because as the rigors of school begin again it's going to be hard to find time to take up a new skill, sport or read that book you always wanted. I haven't had much time to plough through the many books that I have left unread (I have a habit of collecting books and putting them on a "to read" list) but I have managed to start on one and I plan to finish it as soon as possible. However, it is a bit of a dry read but I don't like to start something and not finish it.

As for you, the working ones contributing to the economy, haha, I hope you are enjoying your work even though it can be tiring, the holidays are coming and so is Christmas! The time to think about all your loved ones and what nice gifts you are going to give to them and "bribe" them for being nice. Just kidding! Haha!

I am not sure if I had ever mentioned this but Christmas is my absolute favourite holiday. I have nothing but fond memories of every Christmas. It's the only holiday I realy look forward to. It must be the carols. I absolutely enjoy listening to them. Here's a little something funny I do, I listen to Christmas carols all year round as it never fails to lighten me up. Whenever I feel down, it helps calm me down for some reason. It is probably because I have happy associations with Christmas I guess. Hopefully it can work for you too. I especially like the traditional Christmas carols, more so when there is a jazzy spin to it in an old school kind of way. That's the best.

On the music front I have been doing gigs here and there and I am trying to get used to a lot of things and I'm trying to improve with my performances (As I am not completely happy with all of them). Much more is desired from myself. Thank you all for your patience. A lot of people have been asking me about coming up with an album soon and "striking" while the iron is hot, before the public forget about me but I feel that to come up with good work takes time and patience. What's more is that I am so very new to this and have much to learn so rushing into something is not exactly what I am going to do.

The past few weeks ever since the competition ended I have been trying to organize my life back again, things like packing my room, remembering where everything was and sorting out my music in a digital library and backing everything up has taken up what seems to be eons. Its finally done though and I am getting my footing on other aspects of my life as well, for example getting ready for the new semester starting in January has been interesting too. Its going to be a really busy semester with trying to juggle both singing and schooling but I
have to get ready for it. Sacrifices have to be made and hard work is essential in achieving any form of success.

Oh, before I forget, you guys were absolutely fabulous at the recordings for "wish upon a star", I was really glad to see all of you and I like the little star wands that you were holding. There is one more recording scheduled for the 7th of december and I hope to see you there again. I don't know if you have tickets for the last show just yet but I am sure you know who to contact with regards to them. It's going to be a one hour show and I'm sure will be fun. I was a little uncomfortable at first being a "host" but I hope to get the hang of it soon. You guys clapped for every performance and cheered for every single guest singer, that too was really amazing!

I have so much more to say actually but I will post something up soon again. I'm going to leave you with a poem that I read years ago, it's a little bit santa_sad.gif but its not meant to make you feel down, just to maybe remind us all that sometimes, the people around us may not be as happy as they seem and we may be able to do something by being there for them before its too late.

Not Waving But Drowning
by Stevie Smith

Nobody heard him, the dead man,
But still he lay moaning:
I was much further out than you thought
And not waving but drowning.

Poor chap, he always loved larking
And now he's dead
It must have been too cold for him his heart gave way,
They said.

Oh, no no no, it was too cold always
(Still the dead one lay moaning)
I was much too far out all my life
And not waving but drowning.

See you soon.
Jon.
